Long time members Tina and Dave show their extremely smooth West Coast Swing moves at a recent class.

Advanced dancers learn new moves by practicing with other class members in rotation, thereby learning from the experience of the person before them.

Is this group still active? I don't see anything recent on the website and would hate to drive all the way to Spring for nothing. Believe it or not, it's happened to me before. ��. I'd love to start dancing in the new year and live in Humble.

This club is quite active. About 50 dancers a week in all levels participate. We now have one hour of West Coast Swing Music playing in the club after class for practice. There are snacks and plenty of dancers seeking to make new friends.

North Houston Swing Dance Club Seeks New Members

: Spring, TX, Texas, United States, March 2015.
: If you like the music of George Thurogood, B B King, Bonnie Raitt, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, then you'll want to come and learn West Coast Swing Dancing. West Coast Swing (not surprisingly) was created in Los Angeles after W W II when nightclubs experienced huge crowds of returning veterans that jammed the dance floor. The dance has the lady travel forward and backward in "the slot" while the guy travels across the slot in a combination of walking and triple steps and is typically danced to rock and pop songs with a rate of 85 to 115 beats per minute. No partner is required. Classes usually have a balanced number of men and women. 3 months of basic instruction in West Coast Swing is recommended to take the Intermediate Class at 7 p.m. A beginner class is recommend for those who have not danced West Coast or if you have not danced in a while.
